Sheet1 Page 1 PARKING METER COLLECTIONS BACKGROUND: Approximately $ _____ per year is collected from _____ parking meters located within the city. The parking meters are divided into four collection zones. Meter collections were performed four times a week (Tuesday through Friday). A team of two cashiers and a supervisor are involved in the meter coin collection process. They are also, responsible for counting and preparing appropriate cash receipt and deposit forms. The counting of meter coins is completed the same day as collected. The funds are then transferred to an armored car service for deposit. The collection schedule is altered when a holiday or inclement weather are involved. Occasionally collections were taken on the weekend and were stored at the Parking Administrative office until the next work day (Armored car service does not pick up on weekends). SCOPE: The audit will be limited to review of the meter coin collection process which starts with collecting the coins from the meters and terminates with disposition of the coins to the armored car service.
