Sheet1 Page 1 VEHICLE UTILIZATION AUDIT BACKGROUND: The large operating departments have many permanently assigned vehicles. Some of these are assigned to department heads and managers and driven home at night. The majority of permanently assigned vehicles are not taken home. They are required to be parked at various parking sites throughout the city. These vehicles are only "permanently assigned" in the sense that during normal working hours they are assigned to only one individual. The audit will test utilization in order to determine if the vehicles should be reassigned or sold. We plan to test actual odometer mileage readings recorded for a minimum of six months. The sample will be at least 100 vehicles. SCOPE: The audit period will commence immediately for the reading of odometers readings and the taking of tire pressure readings. In six months the work will be repeated. PLANNING: 1. Prepare and send an entrance letter to the city's Fleet Manager. 2. Discuss potential audit objectives with the Audit Manager.
