Sheet1 Page 1 Police Weapons Test Background: The Police Department requires its officers to carry a standard issue 38 cal. revolver with a four inch barrel. Specifications for trigger pull and other tolerances are defined by department standard operating procedures. Automatic weapons are prohibited. In addition, to the regulation sidearm, officers are issued a 12 gauge pump shotgun. Purpose And Scope: The purpose of the audit is to determine if the sidearms carried by the officers conform to the department's operating procedures that define the specifications for the weapons. In addition, each officer must qualify annually with his revolver. Qualifying scores must be recorded in each officer's personal file. We will test each officer selected in order to determine if he has met the department's requirements for weapons qualification. Handcuffs, nightsticks and shotguns will also be tested. Ammu- nition will be checked for non-standard loads. Planning:
