Reading Assignment: Alexander and Sadiku, 3 rd Edition, Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 General Advice on Homework: 1. Start early. Don’t wait until the night before the due date! 2. Be sure to draw the circuit and label it properly with reference directions for currents and reference polarities for voltages. 3. Show all the important steps in your calculations. 4. Textbook problems are from the course textbook, “Fundamentals of Electric Circuits,” 3 rd Edition (A&S3) . The individual problem statements follow on the next pages. 1. A&S3 8.38 – For the circuit of Fig. 8.86 , find/determine/derive i (t) for t < 0 and for t > 0. Figure 8.86 of A&S3 Figure 8.90 of A&S3 (for Prob 8.38) (for Prob 8.42) 2. A&S3 8.42 – For the circuit of Fig. 8.90 , find/determine/derive v (t) for t < 0 and for t > 0. (Hint: Norton to Thevenin to get series RLC) 3. A&S3 8.46 – For the circuit of Fig. 8.93 , find/determine/derive i (t) for t < 0 and for t > 0.
