On this day, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building inOklahoma City, Oklahoma was bombed by white supremacy terrorists and violently took 168innocent lives from this Earth. 19 of them being young children either there at the America'sKids Day Care Center, or on a school field trip touring the building (Romano, 1997). Theheinous and cowardly attack left over 600 people injured and is considered as the largestdomestic terrorist attack in American history. The attack was orchestrated and executed by TerryNichols and Timothy McVeigh. Both known white supremacists, they both met while in the Armyand serving in the Gulf War. After returning home from active duty and a failed attempt to jointhe special forces, McVeigh bega diving into white supremacy ideologies as well as anti-government ideologies. McVeigh then began travelling the country, selling guns at gun showsand eventually ended up at the city of Waco, Texas in the spring of 1993. His arrival in Wacowas not by chance. McVeigh’s displeasure with America’s government led him to protesting thegovernment’s involvement in the Branch Davidian case as well as the Ruby Ridge case. Duringhis stay in Waco, McVeigh was also reported passing around anti-Semitic and whitesupremacist newsletters (Linder, n/a). The next year, McVeigh began plotting his attack as arevenge for the Ruby Ridge and Waco incident. He picked April 19 as an attack date to coincidewith the second anniversary of the Waco case. McVeigh purchased ammonium nitrate, stoleblast caps, and rented a Ryder box truck used for moving. “Around 9:00 A.M., McVeigh parkedhis rented Ryder truck in front of the Murrah Building and at 9:02 A.M., the truck exploded,bringing down much of the federal building and taking 168 lives” (Linder, n/a).
