PSY 216 Psychology of Personality Journal 1-2: Evaluation of Personality Assessments Summarize the MBTI and Big Five assessment tests and discuss whether you agree or disagree with the results of each and explain why. The Big Five assessment test was created in the 1970’s by two independent research teams (Paul Costa and Robert McCrae from the National Institutes of Health, Warren Norman from the University of Michigan and Lewis Goldberg from the University of Oregon. These two teams found correlating data that suggested human personality traits can be placed into five broad dimensions of personality, regardless of language or culture. My Big Five results were as follows: 64% percentile Open Mindedness – relatively open to new experiences – 83% percentile Conscientiousness – very well organized, and can be relied upon 14% Percentile Extraversion – enjoy spending quiet time alone - 39% Percentile Agreeableness – easy to express irritation with others 40% percentile Negative Emotionality – Not particularly nervous nor calm
