PSYCHOPATHOLOGYPsychopathologyPsychopathy is the study and research of someone’s personality illness as well as mental illness which may lead to many treatments to help with their mental illness. There are two different classifications are at the groundwork of psychopathy which is sociopathic and psychopathic. Both classifications do have their own distinct characteristics, traits, and approaches to treatment (Bartol & Bartol, 2012). Psychopathology helps us to have a better understanding, classifying and fix the issues that goes along with mental health. With a better understanding of mental illness, treatment would be the result to help people with mental illnesses. Subtypes of PsychopathyThere are many characteristics that differentiate psychopaths from the rest of the public such as psychological, interpersonal, and lastly, neurophysiological (Bartol & Bartol, 2012). Psychopaths could generally be described as charming, yet manipulate as well be being ruthless as they destroy their way through other people’s lives and violate social norms without any conscience and empathy (Bartol & Bartol, 2012). There are three different categories of psychopaths which are the primary, the secondary or neurotics and the dyssocial. The primary psychopath is defined as the “true” psychopath because the individual has detectible differences that distinguish that individual from the rest of the population such as emotional, cognitive, emotional as well as biological (Bartol & Bartol, 2012). The secondary psychopaths have severe inner conflicts as they have emotional issues and would commit acts of antisocial or violence (Bartol & Bartol, 2012).
