Facts: -by using modality, the Beatles had novel songs without being too avant garde -they could be novel as performers because of their uniform, androgynous, non- threatening image -early Lennon/McCartney songs were usually equal effort; later songs could usually be attributed to one or the other -early songs would be mostly worked out by John and Paul, then in the studio Ringo and George would work out the details of the lead guitar and drum parts through several takes - A Hard Day ! s Night was the first Beatles ! album with only original songs - Can ! t Buy Me Love has a verse in blues form; A A ! B where the A lines have the same melody, but the B line is different - Thing We Said Today one of the earliest examples of the Beatles ! personal life influencing their songs; here Paul wrote about Jane Asher -the first four albums have a homogenous sound/style -beginning with Rubber Soul individual styles develop -the Beatles !
