Name: MATH 472/MATH 567 Actuarial Theory II/Topics in Actuarial Theory I Final Exam May 12, 2011 General Information: 1) You have between 1:30-4:30pm to write the exam. 2) You may refer to both sides of one sheet of standard printer-sized paper (the size of this page). 3) You may use a non-graphing scientific and/or financial calculator. 4) Make sure you have your university ID on your desk. Anyone who writes the exam and does not follow the seating chart may receive a score of 0, unless previously approved by me. 5) No one may leave the room during the last five minutes of the exam (4:25-4:30pm). I will not accept any exams during this five minute interval. At 4:30pm, everyone remaining will pass their exam materials to the person on the aisle, from whom I will collect them. There should be NO talking during this time (talking may result in a score of 0). Once I have all of the exam materials, everyone remaining may leave. 6) Anyone still writing the exam must stop when I call time (at 4:30pm) and promptly turn in their exam booklet. Failure to do so may result in a score of 0. 7) Anyone caught cheating will receive a score of 0. Please read the “Exam Information” section of the other side of this page!

1) Put your name on the cover of both the exam and the exam booklet. 2) There are 19 problems on this exam for a total of 75 points: (a) Problems 1 - 16 are multiple choice, worth 3 points each. For each of these problems, circle the letter that corresponds to your answer choice IN THIS EXAM. The exam booklet is for scratch work only and will NOT be considered in the grading of the exam. There is only one correct answer per problem. In some problems, answer choices are rounded. Circle the letter of the answer choice that is closest to your own answer. No partial credit can be earned for any of these problems. (b) Problems 17 - 19 are written answer, worth 9 points each. For each of these problems, calculate your answer in the space provided after each problem IN THIS EXAM. The exam booklet is for scratch work only and will NOT be considered in the grading of the exam. Partial credit can be earned for these problems, provided that you SHOW YOUR WORK. 3) I will collect your exams and exam booklets. 4) Keep at many decimal places as possible during each of your calculations. 5) Refer to the accompanying tables at the end of the exam if necessary.
