Lorenc 1 Kelli Lorenc Ms. Anne Cox English 062 21 November 2009 Communication Past and Present Communication is not what it used to be; we no longer have to wait a week for a letter  from a friend far away or go out and buy a calling card to call family members in another state, it  has become extremely easy and impersonal to communicate with anyone and everyone. Almost  everyone has a cell phone along with an email address and many people have websites like  MySpace, face book or twitter to help with communication.   First, people used to write letters to friends and family that lived out of state. It took time  and was very personal. You would pick out specific paper just for that special someone who  would be receiving your letter. Letters would be put inside a special envelope, the perfect stamp  would be picked out and finally it would be mailed off. It would be mailed off with excitement that  one day you would receive a letter back with the same special process. Know we send emails,  no special paper or envelope, not even a second thought about what stamp to send with the  letter. Just those words you hear when you turn on your computer “You’ve got mail”. Emails are  like a second thought we have during the day, we log in, type a short note and hit send, and it  takes just seconds before the person on the other end receives this short note. There is no real  excitement no time and effort put into it and it’s a little impersonal. I remember being a kid and
