Explanation Essay Peer Review Peer Review Writer's Name Kelli Lorenc Reviewer's Name Edward Jordan 1) What type of hook does this essay begin with? Write the hook here. Is it effective? Does it make you want to keep reading to find out what the writer is talking about? What does the writer have in the middle of the introductory paragraph: background material, preview, other information? Does the writer have a clearly stated thesis statement? What is the specific topic of the essay? Does the writer make this clear in the thesis statement? What is the attitude of the essay? Write the thesis statement here. Is the thesis statement tightly written, or could the writer say the same thing in fewer words? If so, how? “As tattoos get more and more popular, I get a lot of questions about mine.” I think it’s a very effective hook because I had a lot of question when I thought about getting my tattoo. “Most of the time people don't know who to go to, how much it will hurt, and what they can do to fix a tattoo if they don't like it.” I believe this would be the thesis and I like it based on the hook, I think it’s a great lead into the rest of the paper. 2) What is the first support? Does the paragraph have a clear topic sentence? Write the topic sentence here. Which mode of rhetoric (tool or writing) is prevalent in this paragraph? Are there at least three major supports for the topic sentence? Does each of them have at least two details? Are the details vivid and specific? Are there any sentences or bits of information that are off-topic? Yes it does, “This is a personal choice and should not be taken lightly.” Yes there are all the required supports and the details are accurately added.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
