Part A Brad Rose Background Info rmation . Verizon is one of the a leaders in delivering various types of communications to people all around the world. Today many Americans see Verizon as the most dependable wireless company as Verizon serving es over 89 million people nationwide. Verizon does not only provides various methods of communication, Verizon is beginning to introducing e new services to customers to expand their business , including new entertainment features such as FiOS T.V. , and internet services and other pioneering services to satisfy businesses and customers all around the world. Verizon is driven to continue to come with develop innovative ideas for communication systems and provide ing maximum customer satisfaction. Verizon Communications Inc. is a fairly new company as it was formed on June 30, 2000 when Bell Atlantic and GTE merged. Verizon’s history does not necessarily begin when it became a company in 2000, but when the telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. Bell Atlantic continued to grow and innovate throughout the years until it was bought out by GTE. Soon after Verizon was established, the company merged with MCI. This merger created Verizon Business, which its focus is was to provide services to medium and large companies. The most recent company Verizon bought out was Alltel. This allowed Verizon to expand its network coverage and provide services to almost the whole United States Population. This nationwide coverage is why Verizon is America’ s most reliable

and popular wireless service company. On July 3, 2000, Verizon began trading under the New York Stock Exchange with symbol VZ. Business Strategy and Management Verizon’s business strategy is that the company is run in two different segments, each with its own business units and products and services. The first segment is the domestic wireless unit, also known as Verizon Wireless. Verizon wireless Wireless is one of the most extensive networks and almost 90 million people in the United States use the wireless network. Verizon wireless also provides fifty seven percent or revenues to Verizon and controls eighty nine percent of Verizon’s operating income. The next business segment of Verizon is the wireline unit. The wireline unit provides the final forty three percent of the revenue and the last eleven percent of the operating income. The first wireline method is telecom which can be found in twenty five states and is very popular among small businesses. Telecom offers a variety of services including broadband video, and voice, and different various network features. The second wireline feature Verizon offers is wireline business. This is a much larger network that serves over 150 countries worldwide. Verizon business wireline is similar to telecom except it serves a much greater area and offers a larger network.
