They were promised by the federal government that they could stay on the reservations if they gave up a good portion of their land, which was back in the 1800’s. “In a study by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights it was reported that there was disproportionately lower funding for critical Indian services, including law enforcement, health care, and education than there is for all other populations of people. (National Congress of, 2005)” It seems as though the federal government is dragging their feet in a lot of ways.
