Throughout every child’s moral and social development, there are exceptionally different levels and stages. Each and every child develops at his or her own rate and time. However, the child may become aware of these precise developmental points taking place. One way to understand the perspective development of children is through levels. A series of levels were created to identify the perspective development of children. The creator of these levels is Robert Selman. The level 0, or the Egocentric Perspective , illustrates how a child is incapable of observing the perspectives of other individuals. As a result, the child will think of his or her own perspective, not thinking about how the other person’s views may be different then their own. The Subjective Perspective is level 1. This level entails children comprehending that every person has a different physical appearance as well as thought process. Thus, children are capable of understanding different personal viewpoints, however only on an extremely primitive level. Level two is known as the Second Person Reciprocal . At this level children have the capacity to acknowledge that different individuals can act in response to the same thing in different ways. It is also possible for them to see others reacting in different ways, and that other reactions may be influenced by outside situations or stimulation that may or
