Calculus: An Applied Approach , 7 th edition. 2006. We will be closely following the departments course syllabus, available at www.math.ucdavis.edu/courses/syllabi . We study calculus because it is an extremely general framework for deriving countless facts and formulas. The point of this course is to acquaint you with the first fundamental concept of calculus: derivatives. We will begin with discussing functions and their limits, and then move on to derivatives, including the relevant definitions, examples, computations, and applications....
