One of the main reason’s Apple has been so successful over the years has primarily due to its cult following, if they build it the followers will buy it, however, behind every good idea Apple has had there was a bad idea to get it off the ground. A few examples are as follows: 1. The Apple Lisa (first commercial PC) introduced in 1983 was slow and overpriced but lead to the development of the Macintosh line in 1984. 2. The Macintosh Portable introduced in 1989 had some design issues and was very heavy for a portable PC but it lead to the development of the PowerBook in 1991. 3. The Apple Newton MessagePad introduced in 1993 was oversized and hard to read but it lead to the Ink control which helped develop the gesture technology in the iPhone. 4. The PowerBook Duo series introduced in 1992 and had a keyboard that was too small and the screen was difficult to read but this lead to the MacBook Air in 2008. 5.
