Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the soil composition of a given soil, so that we may determine the properties of the soil. To do this we are using sieve analysis to determine the amount of each soil type the given soil has. From this, we can generate a grain size distribution curve of the soil, which in turn will help us determine the given soil. The soil given was a combination of gravel and sand. The size of the gravel varied from small to course sand; there are some traces of silt and clay. There is not much gravel bigger then ¾ inch.
