Political Science 2301-01 Assignment Chapter 6 1. According to chapter 6 of your text and boxes 6.1 and 6.2, would Liberals or Conservatives favor a larger role for  government in our society? Liberals favor a more larger role in government than conservatives. They believe in tight regulation of the economy,  more social programs, more equality for blacks and other minority groups. Liberals have an ideology that is basically that  government plays a big role in American’s lives, and anything from economy to national disaster government is the answer.  When it comes to unemployment rates or how the poor are getting poorer, Liberals normally believe it is government that has  let them down and they must do what they can to correct it. Liberals also believe in wealth redistrubution, that the people  from the upper class should pay most of the taxes even if the lower class people don’t pay any, the upper class should carry  the burden and give their wealth out to the poor so they can have better opportunity. This is a liberal view, but it doesn’t push  for responsibility among people, for example welfare is a very corrupt way to give people money when they don’t even do  work. This and many other social programs the liberals push for are widely looked upon by conservatives and even
