CEE 304  -  Uncertainty Analysis in Engineering Homework #1 Due: In your section Wed Aug 29 or Thurs Aug 30, 2007. Please put your name and section time on homework. Thank you! Read:   Sections 1.1-1.4 of Devore6 on pages 1-51. Goal:   Devore Chapter 1 introduces variability and several tools for describing data.  The intent  of the homework is to provide you with an opportunity to use those tools, and to see how they  work and what they do.  The  ActivStats  assignment expands upon exploratory data analysis and  boxplots (descriptive statistics) from Chapter 1 of Devore. Velleman is really into this topic.  (Check out the dead rats.) ASSIGNMENT ActivStats  Lessons (a) Look at the first section (“Introduction”) of Chapter 1 of  ActivStats  to familiarize yourself  with the CD.  View the first  (“Exploring the Lesson Book”) and second activity. (b) Look at three activities on page 6-1.  The third (“Review Boxplots”) asks you to fill in the  blanks with the correct words.  What are the correct answers?
