This is an exam which should be finished by each student individually.

Your identity will be kept in secret.
There are two parts in this exam.
Part A is for the technical work in the simple linear regression and part
B is for the empirical modeling.
Students needs to submit both parts via emails on the Friday due date.
Your reports should have page number marked in the bottomright of each page.
Your name should be on
the first page.
Part A: Simple Linear Regression (40% of the entire Exam #2 grade)
Problem #1 (40%):
For your simulated data obtained in part (a) of Problem #2 in Part B (see below)
finish the following tasks.
(a)
[5%] Use Excel (or any software) to calculate the needed
summary statistics
for
regression analysis.
(b)
[25%] Provide detailed calculation of
(i) LSE of the intercept and slope,
(ii) SST, SSR and SSE,
(iii)Estimate of the population standard deviation σ,
(iv)Rsquare
(v) Point prediction of the mean Y at x = 5.5.
(vi)90% confidence interval of the mean Y at x = 5.5.
Note that you might want to compare your calculation against the result obtained from your
computer software for regression analysis.
