Tapping tendon at knee stimulates stretch receptors (sensory neurons) in quadricep muscle 2. Stretch neurons from quad muscle reach to the spine where they synapse on a) the motor neuron to the quad (excitatory, green) b) on an inhibitory interneuron that synapses on the motor neuron to the hamstring (inhibitory, red dotted) 3.
