STAT2507A – Lab 4 – June 22, 2009 Introduction In this lab you will apply different sampling plans to a dataset that will represent your frame and  examine the estimates from these samples. Background The file Canada.xls is a sample of 2000 records from the 2001 Census. For the purposes of this  exercise, we will assume that these 2000 records make up the population and can be used as  our frame (i.e., assume there is only 2000 people in Canada and they are listed in the file). A  frame requires some sort of information for you to get in contact with the person once you have  selected them. Located in the file are fictitious phone numbers. They are not needed for your  sampling but a frame must have contact information to be useful. Exercise: import the data into Minitab (recall Open worksheet from Lab 1). Simple Random Sampling
