Jahkim Felder January 12, 2011 AMH 2010 (Wednesday 5:40) Is history still relevant? Yes, history is still relevant. There are numerous answers to why history is still relevant; in a sense most are correct, depending on the aspect one chooses to answer this question from. Now, these aspects can range from personal reasons, financial purposes, or for purposes of understanding. To know where you are going, it’s very important to know where you have come from. For instance, once I learned the history of my African American ancestors I was motivated to make something of myself in life because my ancestors made a sacrifice to make the world a better place for me today: I can vote without paying poll taxes or being issued a literacy test, I don’t have to ride in the back of a bus or go to the back of a restaurant to receive service. Although racism and discrimination still exist today but its hidden compared to what it used to be. History is definitely still relevant for financial purposes because money makes the world
