Be aware and comply with a nations laws which changes frequently Gov Institutions o Executive branch o Senate o Congress o Judicial branch Political Parties o Single party dominant (e.g. dictatorships) o Dual- party system o Multi-party system Ideology (what do they believe in) o Capitalism o Socialism o Communism The political environment’s have goals and objectives are to promote the nations interest: o National Security o Independence o Laws for firms and citizens o Developing new industries o Protecting infant industries o Creating/ Protecting jobs Helps politicians get elected/stay office Nationalistic sentiment- a social factor. EG “Be American, Buy American” Commercial Trade Laws o Sherman Antitrust Act o Clayton Act o Federal Trade Commission Act o Wheeler- Lea Act Investment Regulations (ownership and finical controls eg Kuwait) Impositions of Embargoes and Sanctions Macroeconomic Policies o Monetary Policy Level of economic growth (GNP, GDP) Use interest rates to manage inflation and unemployment level foreign exchange rates
