The Slow Awakening    Tim Flannery shares what he thinks is eventually going to happen to the earth.  He begins noticing some abnormalities about the climate and forest expansion  and it puzzled his mind. He talks about how important the climate is to our  existence on earth and as the climate changes natural resources are affected.  The way that we are living today needs to change so we can preserve what the  earth has left to offer or the earth will eventually freeze over again. Chapter 1 The first chapter of The Weather Makers is essentially explaining where the term  "The Great Aerial Ocean" came from. Alfred Russell Wallace coined the term as  a better way to describe the atmosphere. James Lovelock argued in the chapter  that our earths temperature remaining constant isn't by luck but there is some  other force regulating our temperature referred to as "Gaia". 600 million years  ago the earth went through a period of momentous climate change causing ice  age, resulting in ice ages. Followed by the formation of tiny shell-forming
