AEB – Principles of Agricultural Management Test 1. How has Americans perception of food changed? Within the Production Sector, it has changed from the 1950s and is able to produce 2.8 times as much more than what it did. Each farmer now has the capacity to feed five times the number of people than in the 1950s. 2. Six parts of the Agri-Food System: a. Input Suppliers – Agricultural business firms that prepare & sell things like feed, seed, fertilizer, & credit to farms & ranches. b. Producers – Agricultural Business firms (farms & ranches) that purchase items from input suppliers & produce agricultural commodities such as wheat, corn, raw milk, cattle, fruits, & vegetables. c. Commodity Processors – Agricultural business for firms that buy agricultural commodities such as raw milk, wheat, & live cattle from farms & ranches for processing into pasteurized milk, flour, boxed beef, & so on. d. Food Manufacturers – Agricultural business firms that purchase the processors’ products to manufacture prepared food products. An example is a bakery that buys flour, processed eggs, & pasteurized e.
