Black Genocide Part I: This article was based around the idea that AIDS were purposely created by our government to infect people of the African American descent. The author also discussed the idea of counterknowledge and how the black community is using that to spread their views. There were a lot of facts and statistics in this article that the author used to help make his points very clear. He starts out by saying that more than 80% of people dying from AIDS are black and that in 1990, one third of blacks believed that AIDS was a result of a deliberate action of a scientist to infect black people. On the topic of counterknowledge, Fiske says that it must have political and social motivations in order to be successful at challenging an idea. A great deal of this article is devoted to ways in which members of the black community, mainly Black Liberation, feel strongly that the “white America” has set out to try and demolish certain groups of people.
