How Walt Disney Changed Everything Walt Disney created an empire that people all of ages dream and fantasize about. Orlando, Florida would not be the same if it hadn’t been for Walt Disney’s vision of Disney World. The author of this article discusses Walt Disney’s impact on America as well as the concepts of mega-churching, franchising, exurbing, and “mcmansioning.” Florida used to just be mainly populated on the coasts but now central Florida is just as heavily populated. The foundation for this boom in population is none other that Walt Disney. He acquired, secretly, more than 25,000 acres of land to build his dream attraction on. He did this because he realized that people would look at popular shows not necessarily geography and climate to decide where they would vacation. Disneyland was Walt’s first creation but it was never big enough and he never got over that. That is the reason he turned his focus to building a bigger and better attraction.
