Course Meeting Information: Section Meeting Time Room 05 11:30 am - 12:45 pm TR 113A DEV 07 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm TR 113A DEV GENERAL INFORMATION Course Description: This course is designed to give you a basic understanding of enterprise information systems and their basic foundations, business processes and data. Course Objectives: I have 6 major objectives for you in this course. They are: 1) To understand the role of Information Systems in supporting business organizations. 2) To gain skills in basic process thinking and the application of basic process thinking to business and other situations. 3) To become familiar with typical business processes and the data that is needed to support these business processes. 4) To learn how to structure and manipulate data, business-related and otherwise, using the database management system, Access. 5) To learn how to use the Enterprise Resource Planning System called SAP R/3 to carry out data capture and basic business processes. 6) In addition, and as a side effect of our working with various software, I hope that you will gain some skill and comfort exploring and using new and unfamiliar software packages. Prerequisites: CS150 or basic computer skills needed to use PC-based software - including Microsoft Office products. The Text and Readings: There is no required text for this course. The material you need to know will be presented in class. It is therefore very important for you to attend class and to be on time to class. I will not repeat lectures for individuals who miss class. Attendance: I will be taking attendance. For each class beyond 4 that you miss, I will deduct 3% from your final grade (on a 100% scale). One final note on attendance.
