Attestation Standards (As Revised, November, 2006) I. General standards [remember: T- K - C -I-D] A.a Technical training in the attest function “The practitioner must have adequate technical training and proficiency to perform the attestation engagement.” B. Knowledge in the subject matter (since the subject matter is now something other than traditional GAAP-based financial statements. ..) “The practitioner must have adequate knowledge of the subject matter.” C. Criteria – measurement criteria are “suitable and available” (the criteria should be chosen by the client or the responsible party) “The practitioner must have reason to believe that the subject matter is capable of evaluation against criteria that are suitable and available to users.” D. Independence “The practitioner must maintain independence in mental attitude in all matters relating to the engagement.” E. Due professional care “The practitioner must exercise due professional care in the planning and performance of the engagement and the preparation of the report.” II.
