Post War Europe Notes 31/03/2011 13:52:00 Post War by Tony Judt Many new little countries emerged from the collapse of the old land empires in  1918 were poor, unstable, insecure – and resentful of their neighbors (4) In the West the prospect of radical change was smoothed away, not least thanks  to American aid (and pressure). (6) In the first place, this is a history of Europe’s reduction … (Britain, France, the  Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal) were all shrunk back in the course of these year to their  Europe nuclei, their attention re-directed to Europe itself (7). This foster a greater incentive for Europe power to work together and solve  social, economic and political issues which plagued its continent.  This lead to  greater participation in NATO, EU, etc. The tidier Europe that emerged, blinking, into the second half of the twentieth
