Csanyi saw the possibility of using the foamed asphalt as a binder for soil stabilization. Controlled foam was produced by introducing saturated steam into heated asphalt. 1968 Mobil Oil Australia modified the original process by adding cold water rather than steam, into a stream of hot asphalt in a low pressure system. This made the process much more practical and economical. 2010 Foamed asphalt is a common rehabilitation technique used throughout Europe and South Africa. hat is Foamed Asphalt What is Foamed Asphalt Heat transfers from hot bitumen to cold water T H2O T B When T H2O = 100C, the generated steam causes a sudden expansion and becomes trapped in tiny asphalt FINAL RESULT: thin-film, high volume asphalt foam. p p p y p binder bubbles.
