Suspend a comb by a string, teeth downwards. Rub the comb vigorously to accumulate a negative charge. Describe the phenomena that occurs in each of the following situations, and explain why they occur . a) Bring a piece of paper that contains a positive charge close to the extremity of the comb. – In this situation, the piece of paper would be attracted to the comb and stick to it, since opposite charges attract. Since the comb has a negative charge and the paper has a positive charge, they are attracted to each other and will stick together. b) Bring a piece of plastic that contains a negative charge close to the extremity of the comb.
