Biome Postcard Date : 4/21/11 Subject : Visual Art Grade : 2 nd Standard of Learning : 2.3 The student will use literary sources to generate ideas for works of art. General Objective(s): NCTE #3 Students apply a wide range of strategies to comprehend, interpret, evaluate, and appreciate texts. They draw on their prior experience, their interactions with other readers and writers, their knowledge of word meaning and of other texts, their word identification strategies, and their understanding of textual features. NCTE #5 Students employ a wide range of strategies as they write and use different writing process elements appropriately to communicate with different audiences for a variety of purposes. Introduction: After a few classes of studying the biomes in science, introduce the idea of people who live in the different biomes. Refresh the memory of the students by going over the different biomes and give them examples of countries around the world that contain those biomes. Tell them that they are going to be doing research on the country of their choice to find
