Part 1 Having the job as news director is an enormous responsibility and a very stressful job. The role of media delivering the news has not changed over the last century. Ever since people started writing on tablets of stone it has been about preserving a story for future people. Yes writing and technology have come a long way, since people writing on stones and paper made of reads, but the basic principle has remained the same. News media has many responsibilities concerning the delivery of the news to the audience. Having many traditional rules and boundaries to follow, a news company must maintain their professional image. The main goal of news providers is to break the story before anyone else dose and to deliver a clean truthful version of that story. As the director I would need to contemplate what is most important for my company, what is most important for my viewers. Ratings are most important for the news company, but without developing satisfied viewers the ratings will not be very good. The story about city council closing city parks for three days a week would concern the local audience. The news of the celebrity’s death would attract more viewers from all over the broadcasting area. With the Internet we could post details of our stories on the company’s website before the news aired anywhere else. This would give my company the advantage of breaking the story’s first and take some worry away from the issue of which story will be the headline news. As news director I would definitely have the story of the dead celebrity as my top story. People do not care where or how they receive their news; they just want to know what is going on in the world around them. Through the Internet and television my company can successfully bring the news to all its
