Attach the formula sheet .] A cantilever reinforced concrete column is subjected to a factored axial load of P u = 500 kips. The column is 12 ft long and has a rectangular cross section with 24 in width and 30 in depth. Concrete has a compressive strength of 4,500 psi, and steel is of Grade 60. There are 4 No. 9 bars on each side of the section. Cover to center of the No. 9 bars in the column is 2.5 in. Transverse steel reinforcement consists of No. 3 ties at 16 in on center.
