Reynolds M, W and F, 6th Period, 12:50 – 1:40 pm Office: 301 Sisler Hall Class Location: Flint 050 Office Phone: 392-9151; reynolds@chem.ufl.edu Office Hours: Wednesdays, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. in Leigh Hall 328. I. Prerequisite and Objectives. Students should have had chemistry through the General Chemistry sequences, or their equivalent, along with the first semester of Organic Chemistry (CHM 2210). The goal of this class is to provide a basis for understanding organic chemistry. II. Textbook. The textbook is “Organic Chemistry”, 5th Edition, Brooks/Cole Cengage Learning, 2009, by Brown, Foote, Iverson, and Anslyn, along with the “Study Guide and Solutions Manual for Organic Chemistry”, 5th Edition, 2009, by Iverson and Iverson. All of the problems in the text of each chapter are “fair game” and should be studied. To assist in focusing your studies, a list of suggested homework problems will be given for each chapter in class and posted on the web page. III. Lecture. The lectures are designed to facilitate your learning, describe important concepts and direct your study. They cannot serve as the full educational experience. IV.
