Intro to Psychology Extra credit from the survey Due Dec 13, 2011 29. Our memories are not accurate. This is True. False memories are easily acquired as we learned in chapter 8. One-way is from suggestion and the confabulation idea. This is when you fill in the gaps in your mind that you may not be too sure of. For example if you were at an assembly and didn’t catch some of it your brain will connect and fill in what it believed happened creating the false memory. Also when people are suggestible that can alter your own memory, this goes along with the misinformation effect too. This is when you hear a story and you think it happened to you. This is like the sea lion and rock story from class. 12. People IQ’s remain the same throughout their life because IQ measures the ability to apply knowledge. It uses pattern recognition, spatial relationships, and logical reasoning to determine intelligence. If you can't read and write but can identify patterns, you can do well on the test. It's not a measure of what you know
