Conflict Conflict: o Begins when one party perceives its interests are being opposed or negatively affected by another party o “Party” could be individual, team, organization, nation, etc. Conflict and performance: o Variable, conflict can hurt performance or be constructive Potential causes of individual conflict: o Incompatible goals o Differences: values, beliefs, status, function, etc. o Task interdependence o Limited/ shared resources o Ambiguous rules, uncertain responsibilities
