Memo To: Chief Financial Officer From: Garrett Johnson, Vice President of Marketing Division CC: Staff Date: 14:00:43 Re: Declining Music Sales due to Illegal Distribution of Music Records sales are declining. The last quarter’s report indicated a 10% drop in sales of single cds. Yes pirated music has bastardized music sales. Examining the spending habits of the music-buying  public, especially ages 8 -18, it is quite clear that they are much more interested in spending money on  singles than on albums. Even if we were to distribute our songs and albums online through iTunes and  other popular e-commerce hoping to sell some music, Young adults will still find and download free  digital copies of your music (Bryant, Dexter 2011) This is a war we will not win. So why shoot ourselves in the foot trying to fight piracy.
