Summary, Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation (Due day 5 in Assignment Tab ) Resource: Appendix F Read the four sample paragraphs in Appendix F. Identify whether the paragraph was a summary, analysis, synthesis, or evaluation. Write a paragraph explaining the key differences between the four types of writing. (Word count 200-300 words) A summary is a version of a piece of writing. It gives you the main points and supporting sentences in a brief form. A summary could also be in your own words. A summary is considered a short version of a story. An analysis usually considers a main point that it compares and breaks down the other points of a piece of writing to show how the points relate to each other. A synthesis introduces new information from two or more sources making a new point that hasn’t yet been provided. An evaluation is how you understand the writing and what you gathered from it. Your evaluation is what you have learned from the piece of writing. An evaluation provides what you have learned through summarizing,
