Fiscus Brittany Fiscus Professor Chen Political Science 135 June 28, 2010 Final Exam 1. Executive Order- is the decree with a force of law but is not requiring legislative approval. This is important because it allows a president to make quick actions that need to be made that hadn’t been talk about through the house and state. It gives them the power to establish laws when there is a crisis going on and changes need to be made quickly. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/23/obamas-expand-fitness-councils- I think this article is a good example of the term executive Order because all it takes is one person to get the world from sitting in their living room to on their feet making a difference in their life. President Obama and first Lady Michelle Obama have made the changes official in an executive order for fitness. They want to see the world with less obesity and now have a “President’s Council on Physical Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.” Michelle Obama is going to start the, “Lets Move,” program which will eliminate the child obesity. The executive order in place, the leaders of this program will focus on making sure people are healthy and well fit and to get those that don’t exercise to start getting in shape. 2. Census- is the procedure of systematically acquiring and recording information about the members of a given population. The census is important because you are providing data that will help your nation, your state and your community make major decisions over the next 10 years. Whether is has to do with the government, work, or education, you are giving the basic and important information to the government to help make things improved within the next 10 years.   http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/26/two-brooklyn-census-managers-fired- The census is an important factor and when you mess around with surveys you are going to get an inaccurate number and things won’t turn out the way they are suppose to. By filling out surveys themselves the 2 guys won’t get the accurate information each family household has. Not everyone is the same so when you fill the surveys out the way you want to the nation isn’t going to get an accurate state of mind what is happening in that 1
