2 Function of Education in Democratic Society 1. To furnish all citizens with knowledge & training that will enable them to pursue happiness as private persons; 2. To prepare all citizens to exercise their rights of self-government (democracy); Education was meant to teach a method of analysis to learn about the range of human experiences in order to effectively participate in government. Just government is derived from the consent of the governed ; such a government needs citizens who can think and reason . 3. To enable gifted citizens to use their intellectual and moral powers in leadership.

Philosophy of Education Secular system of public education; To teach useful skills, to change attitudes, to improve morality. Moral development an essential responsibility of the schools and the parents; use every opportunity to help the young develop virtuous habits.
