Modern Challenges in Immigration I believe that the United States government policy should base their decision on immigrants depending on that individual’s situation. I think that the way the government handles immigration now is great they cover all basis to ensure that they are allowing the right people to be an American citizen. Immigrants have to go through Naturalization which is the conferring of citizenship on a person after birth. There are general conditions for becoming naturalized in the united states for example you have to be 18 years of age. An immigrant also has to be a continuous residence for at least five years three years for the spouses of U.S. citizens, no criminal offenses, ability to read and write, and the ability to pass a test in U.S. government and history. The only favoritism that I believe the United States government should show to immigrants is ones who are coming to the states for employment base. I feel this way because they have a background from employment and
