places. African American was not permitted to be around White Americans in a public place like a restaurant, public schools, hotels, libraries, buses, and trains. Also African Americans were not allowed to vote and when they were permitted to vote they had to do it in different facilities then white folks did. The Jim Crows Laws started right after the Civil War where blacks and whites where struggling to exits in the nations where slavery no longer existed. Blacks were not allowed to mingle with the whites and if they traveled they had to travel in separate cars. The Jim Crows Laws required places to has designated area for African American and White Americans because they were not allowed to be in the same area, they even had designated water coolers for African American to drink out of. W. E. B. Du Bois W. E. B. Du Bois born February 23, 1868 he was an a American civil rights activists, educator, and a sociologist and he is also known for being a protest spokesperson for the blacks
