Victoria LambCWV-101November 7, 2019Todd ForrestBenchmark - Gospel EssentialsWorldviews are more than how one looks at the world. A person’s worldview is what determines how they live their life (Topic 1 Overview, 2017). There are many worldviews exploring the creation of the world, divine beings and their place among man, how people shouldlive their lives, and what comes after life on Earth. There is so much hatred and sorrow throughout the world today. The Christian worldview offers hope to those who follow the teachings of the Bible. Even though the world is full of sinners, Christianity offers a path to eternal life free from the pain and suffering on Earth. There are different beliefs among Christians, but a few of the beliefs remain the same. The Christian worldview believes God is the creator of all things, all humans are born as sinners, Jesus is the Son of God, and was sent to save humanity from their sins.God“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Before this, there was nothing. Without God, there would be no plants, animals, humans, or Earth. God not only created all things, but he continues to play an active role in the world he created. He sees all. God knows who is leading a moral life and who is leading a life full of sin. He guides his children toward finding their purpose. He watches over all his children, even those who deny Him. God is always seeking His children, waiting patiently for those who have strayed to 1
confess their sins and ask for forgiveness (Morse, 2011). God is a loving and merciful God. God offers everyone the opportunity to gain eternal life and to walk with Him in Heaven. He sent His Son, the human form of himself, to atone for the sins of man. God is also love. God loves everyone unconditionally. Even the vilest of criminals are loved by God. By offering unconditional love to all, He hopes to instill good in the world. Most of all, God is real. He surrounds the world with evidence of his existence (Morse, 2011). He is heard in the laugh of a newborn. He is seen in the face of a groom waiting at the altar for his bride. Joined hands of former enemies in the wake of a tragedy is God’s love working in the world.HumanityHumans were created to reflect God’s characteristics. They were meant to work hard, to care for the earth and all creatures, and to expand God’s kingdom (Topic 2 Overview, 2017.) Humans were meant to lead a life free of pain and suffering, a life of perfection alongside the Lord. God gave Adam and Eve the freedom to choose to follow His word by granting them freewill. This freewill led to the original sin, the downfall of humanity. Adam and Eve were deceived by Satan and willingly disobeyed God’s command.
