Chapter 2 Vocabulary Abandonment- the concept that once property has been abandoned, its former owner has  no reasonable right of privacy in it Exclusionary rule- the rule used to exclude evidence that was obtained by the violation of  a constitutional right such as an illegal search Expectation of privacy zone- the living area immediately surrounding a home where the  residents have an expectation of privacy Fruit of the poisonous tree- additional evidence discovered from information obtained as  the result of a constitutional violation such as an illegal search Independent state grounds- a decision based on a state constitution or statue that does not  involve an interpretation of federal law Magistrate- a judicial officer with the power to issue a warrant, including magistrates,  district judges, superior court judges, and any other judicial officer authorized by law to
