Situation Situation A single 23­year old female, generally healthy, who does not have a history of smoking or drinking, and is pregnant with her first child Adequate care Adequate care First and for most, with any pregnancy it is important for the mother to be receiving adequate care from a doctor so that mother and child can be monitored for progress and any complication that may arise. Current options for care Current options for care The A.S.K Benefits Solutions ( n.d) website states that there are several options a pregnant woman without health insurance can look into in the state of California such as: State Disability, Use FSA, Medicaid, WIC, and Charity Care. Out­of­Pocket Costs Out­of­Pocket Costs Pregnancies are not cheap and for this reason single women must ask themselves whether or not traditional hospitals are the way to go or if a birthing center is their best option. Decisions… Decisions… Decisions… Decisions… Our single 23 year old female must make the best decision for her and her unborn child based off her financial income and situation.
