427 ABOUT THE AUTHORS John C. Anderson is the Instructional Technology Coordinator for the Segal Design Institute. He also teaches in Northwestern’s Writing Program and the School of Continuing Studies. He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan’s Residential College and his M.A. from Northwestern University. Stacy L. Benjamin is a Senior Design Engineer for the Segal Design Insti- tute. She is part of the teaching team for undergraduate engineering design courses and she mentors student teams on multi-disciplinary and multi-year project. One of these projects, the NÜberwalker, is the recipient of the interna- tional daVinci Award for universal design. Prior to joining Northwestern, Benjamin worked for nine years at the design firm, IDEO, as a senior project manager and mechanical engineer. Mark L. Bourgeois was an engineer in the telecommunications industry for firms such as Lucent Technologies before coming to Northwestern. In addi- tion to EDC he teaches medical and research ethics in a number of courses and summer programs in the Biomedical Engineering department, where he is also the administrator of the Northwestern Center for Engineering Education Research. He also created and instructs the highly regarded Continuing Stud- ies graduate course Ethical and Legal Issues in Regulation.
