Week 4, DQ 1 How might you use what you have learned so far to live a more healthful lifestyle? This class has so far brought into focus that we truly are what we eat…at least health-wise. I have pretty much stopped taking the vitamin supplements (A, C, Calcium for example)…because I do normally eat a healthy, balanced meals. I am trying harder now to watch my salt an sugar intake. I used to consume about 3 teaspoons of sugar with my coffee (at least twice a day)…I have now cut back to about 1 ½ teaspoons of sugar per coffee drink. If in the past I hardly visited fast-food places, I am now completely against fast-food places! What changes might you make to your current patterns? I now make a conscientious effort to eat at least two servings of fruit per day (an apple and a banana, for example)…and I have replaced the normal breakfast of toast or bagels with cream cheese with a yogurt to at least three times per week. I also cut back on serving portions, especially during dinner…it is very easy to over eat when you are relaxed and with your loved ones at the dinner table.
